Patriots Salary Cap

Moss retiring, Berrian helps to save salary cap space

It’s good to have the Vikings training camp back on track and rolling for the Mankato area.

Monday was a great day to start the Vikings training camp except for the heat! Many of them explain it like an off season training activity with individual drills, working the offensive and defensive sides.

Be sure to pay attention on Thursday, when the collective bargaining agreement is ratified for the other dozens of players who have been sitting out and waiting.

I was reading about Bernard Berrian and how he is willing to take a pay cut so he can help his team save on salary cap space. How nice is that?

Too bad there weren’t more players jumping on the bandwagon to do the same thing. Berrian was contracted to make $6.3 million dollars this season, but he will restructure his contract and it won’t expire until 2012.

On to another player in the news, Randy Moss, an ex-Viking, is retiring after 13 seasons in the NFL. Moss who is only 34-years-old has had 954 catches for 14,858 yards and 153 touchdowns for the Vikings, Raiders, Patriots and Titans.

Can you believe it was 1998, when Minnesota first drafted Moss? Wow, where did the time go? I remember when he first started and how much everyone adored him. Where would the Vikings be if there had been no Randy Moss?

Fall coaches, I will be getting the fall preview ready soon, please contact me for the best day and time for a team photo. Thank you!
