Fire fighters tackle blaze in Westbourne

FIRE fighters were called to a blaze in Seamoor Road, Westbourne in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The fire, which started in a wheelie bin around 1.30am, had spread to a nearby vehicle and estate agents in Poole Road and also caused smoke logging to the first and second floor flats above.

Two crews from Westbourne and Springbourne attended the fire, which was directly opposite The Westbourne pub.

Southern Electric Board was also called as the fire had affected the external supply.

Fire fighters extinguished the blaze using two hose reel jets on a triple extension ladder.

The fire destroyed the wheelie bin and vehicle and damaged the extractor fan and toilets at the estate agents.

There was also damage to electrical cables, rendering and guttering of the flats, which also suffered smoke damage.
