1St thing to do is pull off the carb sounds like the float is stuck open ,causing fuel smell.pull all the jets etc. out of carb clean really good with carb cleaner and compressed air use glasses carb cleaner burns the EYES REAL BAD. if its old gas in the tank drain it out and fill with new,i m bet a good carb clean will do the trick,plug couldn t hurt either good luck well i took it all apart and put it back together now it will only run with the choke on.I give it throttle and it dies but idles great with the choke on what am i missng. Seems like the big diaphragm assy moves up and down when turning it over like it should. Gas coming back thru other hose that goes to gas tank valve. How do i set the float to spec if you think thats what it is .Anymore help would be great. not trying to sound smart just had the same problem with my vinson and it was a tiny peice in one jet port .did u take out all the jets and blast them with carb cleaner? a tiny peice the size of a grain of sand would cause it to run the way you explained. just make sure the float isn t gummed up not really sure of any float specs. my bike did the same as yours and thats all it was,small stuff in jet double check I did but i guess i missed something and i will check them all again. i will set the float i found the specs for it. I will change all the orings to i have a kit i bought with all different size orings. I bought a download repair manual online that gives everything i need to look at. I dont think youre being smart i asked for help and you gave it . well i pulled the carb again and did a really good cleaning of everything again and set the float to specs, Got it running and adjusted the pilot screw and its running like a champ.Idles really nice. put some seafoam in the gas and ran it up and down the yard and street for about a half and hr did back fire a couple of time but stopped after like to times.
