Orange Monte Carlo

Also known as the ZTE Skate, Orange Monte Carlo is the successor of the popular and critically acclaimed Orange San Francisco. It's a Gingerbread Android 2.3 smart phone with a huge 4.3 inch touch screen.

The Monte Carlo is sold exclusively by Orange for £ 150 on a pay as you go deal. If you want to recover on a monthly contract, you can expect to pay around £ 10 to £ 15 for the privilege. Free SIM card ZTE Skate without the Orange brand, sells for around £ 200.

If you are on the lookout for an Android phone on a pay as you go contract, the Monte Carlo is probably the best option right now.

When you look at the specs - Android Gingerbread, a 4.3 inch screen, a 800MHz processor - the asking price for this phone is very low. Most of the other 4.3 inch Android phones retail without a subscription to more than 150 pounds that Orange is required for the Monte Carlo.

It does not hurt to be realistic about the power of the phone, though. With a little preparation and steady hands, you can easily resize a SIM card for one device into a more petite Micro-SIM for your iPad (or iPhone or other Micro-SIM devices).
